Alaska Pride Fest 2012.Sunday, June 10: Celebrate and give thanks at the Christians for Equality Pride ecumenical service at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, and join Mad Myrna’s for a barbecue as another great Pride Week in Anchorage winds down. Meanwhile, “Bully” continues to screen at the Bear Tooth, and the LGBTQA community of Anchorage carries Pride on into the the year.

Originally formed in support of the Anchorage Equal Rights Initiative (Proposition 5) in December 2011, Christians for Equality is comprised of faith leaders, lay and ordained, from a variety of different denominations and faith communities united in the conviction that no one should be discriminated against in employment, housing, or public accommodations simply because they are gay or transgender. Pride Windup BBQ at Mad Myrna’s

“Bully” screening at the Bear Tooth

Bully (film)Bully examines the dire consequences of bullying through the stories of five students who face bullying on a daily basis. Bully follows the students and their families over the course of a school year, with an intimate glimpse into homes, classrooms, cafeterias and principals’ offices.
