Field of Words
by Melissa S. Green

"Field of Words" is a poem I wrote in 1999, which you can read on my blog, & which as I said when I blogged it "actually had nothing to do with writing per se when I wrote it — but guess it does after all, hey?" Well yeah, sure, & so I've persistently call the writing parts of my blogs & websites in their various incarnations Field of Words ever since, instead of just calling them something simple like, oh, Writing, f'r instance. But that's how it is.

Now that I'm getting reaquainted with the writing life, & also getting my website into some kinda shape, this part of my site will have some of my writings. I'll be adding it a bit at a time as I've got time to get it formatted properly; at the moment, I've only got three short stories I wrote back in the '90s. Hope you read 'em. Hope you enjoy 'em.

How to Find Your True Love: A Method

1989 Tattoos & dykes in an Anchorage queer bar.

Mrs. Dickey's House

1996   A son wrestles with his mother's love.

Fast in Secret

1998   A 6th-grader and a classmate's suicide.

Mercy

2007   Kadu's first-person account of killing a man.

Some other writings (mostly poems) & writings about writing can also be found under the Field of Words category on the blog.

Got comments? I'd love to hear them. See Field of Words on my blog. Thanks for reading!
