I agree that routing homeless people is no solution to homelessness! And at best, it is more psychological harm, at worse, results in death. Losing precious winter gear is a recipe for hypothermia and does increase the rational to continue drinking if someone as the inkling to do so.

I do hope that people will not fall for the mayor saying that they have a solution, because from all my analysis, there is no solution coming from our current way of thinking about how to live in community or our way of handling social services.

In my experience, I have seen much healing coming from the homeless people being able to camp together in tent cities, watching over each other and handling their own security.

Being alone and homeless is a recipe for insanity, and being able to have conversation with others about their situation is a strong start in stability, if not matching what we 'Americans' see as a 'safe' way to live.

I strongly support the phrase from the disability movement "nothing about me without me" Social support structures are still floundering and resisting this concept. And the only way we are going to get rid of homelessness is by doing a serious restructuring of our social system and way of life, these changes would make it better for everyone, cause who wants to be in a world where if something happens to you and your out on the streets and without shelter and suddenly or slowly in some cases, you find you are an outcast or being a person who has a home and shelter have to deal with your neighbors being homeless? With the economy the way it is, we will all be seeing more of this and what shall we do?

In the meantime, I do hope we will stop and consider the damage done by the police who have moved these people so heartlessly because we can't change our lifestyles to something more simple that can leave more for others.
